⚠️CITY OF GREENSBURG DECLARES DISASTER EMERGENCY FOLLOWING SEPTEMBER 3 STORM⚠️
The City of Greensburg has issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency in response to the severe storm that impacted our community on the evening of September 3, 2026.
The storm brought an extraordinary amount of rainfall in a short period of time, along with strong winds, thunder and lightning. The resulting flash flooding, downed trees and storm-related damage affected numerous areas throughout the City.
The disaster declaration allows the City to respond quickly and provides our Emergency Management, Public Works and other City personnel with the authority and resources necessary to address flooding, debris, infrastructure concerns and other impacts of the storm without delays that can accompany normal administrative procedures.
City crews and emergency personnel continue to assess damage and address affected areas throughout Greensburg. We ask residents to use caution around flooded areas, downed trees and any damaged infrastructure, and to never attempt to drive through standing or moving water.
We also want to thank our first responders, Public Works employees, Recreation employees, emergency management personnel and all those who have been working throughout the response and cleanup efforts.
The City will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
