The Village of Volente would like to make residents aware of potential scam letters, emails, text messages, or other communications that may falsely appear to come from the Village or another government entity.
Please be advised that the Village of Volente will never request that residents wire money, send gift cards, provide banking information by email, or make payments through unofficial methods. Any communication requesting immediate payment, personal financial information, or directing you to send money should be treated with caution.
Scammers often create correspondence that appears legitimate and may use official looking logos, letterhead, email addresses, or urgent language to pressure individuals into taking immediate action. These fraudulent communications may claim that money is owed, that a deadline is approaching, or that legal action will occur if payment is not made.
To protect yourself:
Do not send money, wire funds, or provide personal or financial information in response to unsolicited communications.
Be cautious of urgent requests demanding immediate action.
Verify the authenticity of any correspondence before responding or making a payment.
Do not click on suspicious links or open unexpected email attachments.
