Special Marine Warning issued September 2 at 9:20PM EDT until September 2 at 10:15PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH
For the following areas...
Nearshore and Open waters from Geneva-on-the-lake OH to Ripley NY...
At 919 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts
and strong winds were located along a line extending from 33 nm
northwest of Erie to 26 nm north of Conneaut to 28 nm north of
Geneva-On-The-Lake, moving east at 30 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and large hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could
result in structural damage.
Locations impacted include...
Erie and Conneaut.
Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are
expected.
