Special Marine Warning issued September 2 at 5:38PM EDT until September 2 at 7:15PM EDT by NWS Buffalo NY

For the following areas...

Lake Ontario from Niagara River to Hamlin Beach...
The Lower Niagara River...

At 537 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts
was located 13 nm north of Fort Niagara, or 14 nm north of Niagara
River, moving southeast at 35 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to 40 knots, and large hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could
result in structural damage.

Locations impacted include...
Thirty Mile Point, Youngstown, Lewiston, Olcott, Wilson, Sunset
Beach, and Fort Niagara.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for western New
York...and the adjacent waters of Lake Ontario.

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
Wind gusts to 40 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning,
and heavy rain are possible with this storm.

Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
