Description
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued September 2 at 7:39AM EDT until September 2 at 8:15AM EDT by NWS Buffalo NY
At 738 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 12 miles west of Lakeside Beach State Park to near
Newfane to near Sanborn, moving southeast at 45 mph.
HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Buffalo, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, North Tonawanda, Clarence,
Lockport, Lackawanna, Batavia, Kenmore, and Depew.
This includes Interstate 90 between exits 48 and 56.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
