The Borough of Hatboro would like to remind our followers, pool members, and guests that public pools must follow specific protocols and regulations to ensure the safety of everyone who visits.
Although the two incidents that occurred at the pool this past week were unfortunate and unplanned, staff were required to follow established procedures. While we cannot discuss the details of either incident, please know that pool closures are never something we want or take lightly. These events are uncommon; this is only the second closure of this nature during the current season.
We would like to thank our staff for their outstanding handling of these two incidents. Their response was quick, thorough, and effective. By acting promptly and ensuring that all protocols were properly followed, helps to facilitate the safe reopening of the pool without further delay.
Incidents like these do result in additional expenses. Approximately 18 years ago, previous Borough Councils established the pool as a separate, self-sustaining operation that does not rely on tax dollars. Membership and guest fees fund the pool's operating costs, including any Public Works labor, chemicals, and supplies required following an incident.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we continue working to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable pool environment for our community.
