Description
All contractors working within the Town of Porter are required to be registered with the town. If a contractor says that they are licensed, bonded and insured, please ask for copies of that information. We vet our contractors for your safety to ensure that they are properly insured and bonded. We are continuously adding more licensed contractors as they apply.
Tree trimming and removal does not require a permit. Following are the tree service contractors currently licensed with the Town of Porter as of August 19, 2026:

For permanent backup generator installation, the same licensing requirements apply as well as the requirement for a building permit. A list of licensed contractors is available on our website www.townofporter.in.gov under "Building and Development Department". If you find a contractor that you like that is not currently licensed, it is a simple process for them to do so. Forms for permits and licensing are on the Town website or they can be picked up at Town Hall at 3030 Franklin Street in Porter.
