Description
Storm recovery efforts continue throughout the Town of Porter following the severe storms on August 11. Please note the following important updates:
Cooling & Charging: The Porter Fire Station is currently without power, phone, and internet service and is NOT available as a cooling shelter. Residents without power may come to Porter Town Hall, 303 Franklin Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to cool off and charge phones and other electronic devices.
Public Works: Public Works is currently without phone and internet service. Residents who need to report a Public Works-related issue may call Town Hall at (219) 926-2771.
Storm Debris & Brush: Public Works continues collecting brush, limbs, and tree debris. Residents may move debris to the curb, but please do not place it in the street. Do not move or handle any trees, limbs, or debris if power lines, utility wires, or cables are in or around it. Main thoroughfares are being prioritized, followed by side streets. Due to the extensive amount of damage, collection will take considerable time, and we greatly appreciate everyone's patience.
Assistance: Residents who need help connecting with available storm recovery resources may also call Town Hall at (219) 926-2771.
Always dial 911 for a police, fire, or medical emergency.
