Description
Special Weather Statement issued August 16 at 7:28PM EDT by NWS State College PA
At 728 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 10 miles north of Gettysburg to near
Emmitsburg. Movement was east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Hanover, Waynesboro, Gettysburg, Hampton, Littlestown, Carroll
Valley, McSherrystown, Bonneauville, New Oxford, Mont Alto, Lake
Heritage, Marion, Cashtown, Aspers, Orrtanna, Biglerville,
Abbottstown, Arendtsville, Heidlersburg, and Bendersville.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for
south central Pennsylvania.
