Description
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued August 16 at 3:21PM EDT until August 16 at 3:45PM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 321 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from
near Ellwood City to near McDonald, or along a line from 10 miles
southeast of New Castle to 9 miles northwest of Canonsburg, moving
east at 45 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Ross Township,
McCandless Township, Monroeville, Cranberry, Moon Township,
McKeesport, Butler, Franklin Park, Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Monaca,
Shaler Township, Plum, West Mifflin, North Side Pittsburgh and
Baldwin.
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds.
Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter
immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built
structure.
Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread
significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately
likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of
a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant
property damage.
