Description
We have been having reports of individuals in the township offering Driveway Sealing. Residents are reminded to be cautious when approached by individuals offering to driveway paving, sealing, repairs, or other home-improvement work—especially when they arrive unexpectedly at your home.
Some scammers may claim they have leftover materials from a nearby job or offer a special “today only” price. What may start as a low-cost offer can quickly turn into demands for additional money, poor-quality or incomplete work, or even damage to your property.
Protect yourself:
-Be cautious of unsolicited offers at your door or driveway.
-Never feel pressured to make an immediate decision or payment.
-Get a written estimate and contract before agreeing to work.
-Research the company and check references.
-Ask for identification and verify the contractor's business information.
-Avoid paying the full amount upfront.
-If something doesn't feel right, do not allow the person onto your property and especially do not allow them to enter your home.
Remember: A legitimate contractor will understand if you want time to research the company and get additional estimates.
If you believe you have encountered a scam or feel threatened or pressured, contact the state police and report the incident.
When in doubt, shut the door and say NO. Protect your home, your money, and yourself.
