Upcoming Underground Telecommunications Construction

Description
Beginning Monday, August 17, crews from an independent fiber installation company, Blue Streak communications will be working in neighborhoods throughout Lake Helen to install new underground telecommunications infrastructure. Construction and restoration activities are expected to continue through approximately the first week of September.
Most work will take place within the public right-of-way and utility easements which may include areas along the front of residential properties. Residents may see construction crews and equipment, temporary utility markings and flags, small excavations, directional boring, fiber installation and splicing, and traffic control.
Please do not remove or relocate utility flags or paint markings. These markings identify existing underground utilities and help crews work safely.
Crews will use directional boring whenever practical to minimize surface disturbance; however, small excavations may be necessary to install equipment or safely work around existing utilities. After installation, residents may also see fiber-splicing technicians working from specialized vans or trucks near underground handholes.
Once construction is complete, disturbed areas will be restored, including backfilling, grading, and replacing sod where necessary.
We appreciate residents' patience and cooperation during this project. Crews will work to complete the improvements safely and efficiently while minimizing impacts to residents and their properties.
