Description
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued August 11 at 11:41AM CDT until August 11 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL
At 1140 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 7 miles south of Three Oaks to near La Porte to near
Walkerton to Knox to near Medaryville, moving east at 65 mph.
THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS producing measured winds gusts over
80 mph.
HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.
Locations impacted include...
Portage, Valparaiso, Chesterton, Rensselaer, DeMotte, Hebron,
Wheatfield, Lakes of the Four Seasons, South Haven, Porter, Roselawn,
Kouts, Burns Harbor, Ogden Dunes, Town of Pines, Beverly Shores,
Hanging Grove, Wheeler, Collegeville, Dune Acres, Stoutsburg, Fair
Oaks, Dunns Bridge, Boone Grove, and Baileys Corner.
Prepare immediately for damaging winds and deadly cloud to ground
lightning. Seek shelter inside a well-built structure. Stay away from
windows.
