Description
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued August 11 at 11:18AM CDT until August 11 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL
At 1115 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Ogden Dunes to Portage to near Lakes of the Four
Seasons to near Hebron to near Roselawn, moving east at 75 mph.
THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS producing measured winds gusts over 100
mph, particularly across northern Porter, including Portage, Ogden
Dunes, Dune Acres, Chesterton and areas nearby.
HAZARD...100 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may
be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes
will be destroyed. Expect considerable damage to homes and
businesses. Expect extensive tree damage and power outages.

Valparaiso, Chesterton, DeMotte, Wheatfield, Porter, Kouts, Burns
Harbor, and Beverly Shores around 1120 AM CDT.
Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include Fair
Oaks, Parr, Dunns Bridge, Boone Grove, Baileys Corner, Malden, Dune
Acres, Stoutsburg, Wheeler, and Collegeville.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind
speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are
especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be
overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the
lowest floor of a building. These storms have the potential to cause
serious injury and significant property damage.
