Description
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued August 9 at 3:59PM CDT until August 9 at 4:30PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL
At 359 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Chesterton to near Valparaiso to near Crown
Point, moving east at 50 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Schererville, Hobart, Crown Point,
Chesterton, Cedar Lake, St. John, Lakes of the Four Seasons, South
Haven, Porter, Winfield, Burns Harbor, Town of Pines, Beverly Shores,
Wheeler, Dune Acres, Boone Grove, and Malden.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
