Effective Immediately: August 4, 2026
The San Patricio Municipal Water District (SPMWD) has officially transitioned from Stage 3 (Critical Water Shortage Condition) to Stage 2 (Moderate Water Shortage Condition).
WHY IS THE STAGE CHANGING?
This change is triggered by positive news regarding our regional water supply. The combined reservoir storage capacity of Choke Canyon Reservoir and Lake Corpus Christi has increased above 30%.
Under our regional agreements and our Drought Contingency Plan, this improvement allows us to lift the severe restrictions of Stage 3 and transition into Stage 2.
OUR GOAL: A 20% REDUCTION IN WATER DEMAND
While supply conditions have improved, we remain in a drought. Under Stage 2, our regional goal is to achieve a 20% reduction in total daily treated water demand. To reach this target, the following mandatory water-use rules are now in effect for all customers utilizing District water:
LANDSCAPE & LAWN WATERING (Once Every Other Week)
Outdoor sprinkler systems and hose-end sprinklers are restricted to ONCE EVERY OTHER WEEK on your designated watering day.
To find your designated watering day, please check with your local municipal water provider or utility office.
EXEMPTIONS (Any Day): You may water landscaped areas on any day of the week if you use:
o A hand-held hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle.
o A hand-held hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle.
o A drip irrigation system equipped with a positive shutoff device.
