* Until 245 PM EDT.
* At 1036 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across portions the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches
of rain have fallen over the last 6 hours with an additional
rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible. Rainfall rates have
been around 1-2 inches per hour of accumulation as the line of
showers drifts slowly to the east. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.
* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include...
Trenton, New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Long Branch, Sandy Hook,
Somerset, Edison, Middletown, Old Bridge, East Brunswick, South
Brunswick and Sayreville.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 295 in New Jersey between mile markers 55 and 76.
New Jersey Turnpike between exits 7 and 13.
Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 11.
Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 20.
Garden State Parkway between mile markers 107 and 134.
Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most
flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
