The National Weather Service in Buffalo has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Niagara County in western New York...
Northwestern Orleans County in western New York...
* Until 1100 PM EDT.
* At 821 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flooded roads and
basements near Lockport and Shawnee due to earlier thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3
inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
inches are possible in the warned area.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
North Tonawanda, Lockport, Newfane, Middleport, Sanborn,
Lyndonville, Barker, Gasport, Appleton, Rapids, Wolcottsville,
Pendleton Center and Cambria Center.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
