Description
Flash Flood Warning issued August 2 at 7:10PM EDT until August 2 at 9:45PM EDT by NWS Buffalo NY
At 710 PM EDT, local law enforcement continues to report flooded
roads and basements near Lockport and Shawnee due to earlier
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. While the thunderstorm
prompting the warning has moved out of the area, additional showers
and thunderstorms are expected this evening.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
North Tonawanda, Lockport, Newfane, Middleport, Sanborn,
Lyndonville, Barker, Gasport, Appleton, Rapids, Wolcottsville,
Pendleton Center and Cambria Center.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
