Description
Flash Flood Warning issued August 2 at 5:21PM EDT until August 2 at 7:15PM EDT by NWS State College PA
At 521 PM EDT, emergency management reported flash flooding due to
heavy rain between. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The
expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is
already occurring. Additional flash flooding is expected farther
north in places like Ralston, Trout Run, Loyalsockville, and Cogan
Station.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash
flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Williamsport, Montoursville, Montgomery, Duboistown, Cogan Station,
Trout Run, Loyalsockville, Ralston, Elimsport, Barbours,
Collomsville, South Williamsport, Garden View, Oval, Salladasburg,
Little League World Series Complex and Williamsport Airport.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
