Description
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 27 at 1:23PM CDT until July 27 at 2:15PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL
At 122 PM CDT, a large severe thunderstorm was located from Gary to
Merrillville to Lowell to Momence, and was moving southeast at 45
mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Hammond, Gary, Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, East Chicago,
Schererville, Hobart, Crown Point, Highland, Munster, Chesterton,
Cedar Lake, Lowell, Manteno, DeMotte, Hebron, Momence, Wheatfield,
Lake Village, Griffith, Dyer, St. John, Lake Station, and Lakes of
the Four Seasons.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
