Description
Compared to this time last year we are seeing relatively lower mosquito numbers in our traps, but we are also still finding West Nile positive mosquitoes within some of these traps. If you are ever curious as to whether or not a trap within your township/borough has had West Nile positive mosquitoes this year, please refer to the map located within the bi-weekly report. We are continuing to monitor all of our sites with the townships and boroughs to limit the spreading of mosquito-borne diseases.
· Stay indoors during peak mosquito hours
o Dusk to Dawn (Keep in mind that it is getting darker later)
· Wear long sleeves, pants, and closed-toed shoes if possible
o Exposed skin may be at risk for biting mosquitoes
· Wear bug repellent
o Specifically bug repellent containing at least 30% DEET or another EPA approved active ingredient
· Remove all the standing water from your property
o Birdbaths, wheelbarrows, buckets, tires, unused flower pots and children’s toys can hold water and breed mosquitoes.
