Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued a statewide Code Purple Air Quality Alert for today, Friday, July 17, 2026, due to dense wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota, creating "very unhealthy" conditions. As the current air quality index is unsafe for the general population:
- The Community Pool is closed
- The Tennis Courts are closed
This decision was not made lightly and is to protect our patrons and staff.
In addition, the Forest Hills' Farmers Market, hosted by the Late Bloomers Garden Club, is also cancelled.
While Borough Parks will remain open, we would like to remind residents to:
- Stay indoors when possible and keep windows closed
- Reduce unnecessary vehicle trips and avoid idling
