Description
Luzerne Conservation District has sent out information concerning mosquitos and West Nile virus:
Please encourage residents in your municipality to remove standing water from property. Artificial habitat such as bird baths, tires, unsealed rain barrels, children's toys, wheelbarrows, or anything else that holds stagnant water for more than 4 days can begin to breed mosquitoes. Cleaning up larval habitat can have one of the largest impacts on mosquito populations!
I am encouraging residents to take the following precautions:
Stay indoors during peak mosquito hours (dusk to dawn)
Wear long sleeves, pants, and closed toes shoes, if possible.
Wear EPA registered repellents
