Description
We have received the following weather statement concerning the air quality in our area. This is due to the Canadian wild fires. We want everyone to be aware and mindful of the impact that can be caused especially those with breathing issues. Please be mindful if working outside.
* CANADIAN WILDFIRE SMOKE WORSENS TODAY *
AQI values are currently between 150 - 200 (unhealthy for all groups). The air quality will only worsen as the morning progresses with AQI values reaching 200+ (very unhealthy) late morning, and a decent risk for 300+ values (hazardous) later in the afternoon as another push of smoke moves in. Looking at upstream observations under the smoke plume, there is a real concern that this can materialize, potentially rivaling the June 2023 event by the end of the day. Smoke will persist into the night before gradually lessening with AQI values around 200 likely to start tomorrow morning. Expect continued improvement in the air quality late morning into the rest of the afternoon as winds help push the smoke south of the region. Then, this weekend some smoke can come back up, but should be less compared to today's and tonight's.
