PECO UPDATE

Sunday, July 5th - 1:30 PM

As promised, Borough staff participated on a call with PECO representatives today.

At the height of last night's storm PECO had 57,000 customers without power. As of this call this afternoon there was still 8100 customers in the PECO service area without power. 1100 of those customers are in Montgomery County. 100 are in the Borough.

PECO is working to get the power restored as quickly and safely as possible. They are also monitoring the weather for this evening and are prepared should storms hit the area and there is loss of power again.

PECO has assured us that the outage map on their website will be up and running again this afternoon and wants to remind everyone that there are several ways to notify PECO of outages.

They are as follows:
1. Visit PECO.com/alerts to choose how to receive information - via text, email or phone. This includes when power is out, when service is expected to be restored or when your power is restored.
2. PECO has a two-way texting system for outages. Text "ADDOUTAGE" to MYPECO (697326), customers can enroll in the program, report outages and check status of their outage through text messaging. To use this service a customer mobile number must be registered with their account.
3. Customers can call 1-800-841-4141 to report an emergency.
4. Customers can find additional information at peco.com/storm

PECO has indicated that their customer care center is staffed and they are ready to respond to all outages/emergencies.
We have heard your concerns about the strike and while this is a PECO issue, we know this affects all of us and hope that PECO continues to bargain with their represented staff to get a fair contract and that the employees are back to work very soon. PECO indicated on the call today that they are doing just that.

The Borough will continue to participate on calls with PECO, share info as well as relay all your concerns to PECO.
We will continue to be here for you, monitor the weather, share updates, remind you to be weather aware and how to report concerns. We hope that any storms pass over the Borough and we all have a quiet Sunday evening.

As always, any questions or concerns you can call Borough Hall at 215-443-9100 during working hours or send an email to Borough Manager Hegele at dhegele@myhatboro.org.
