The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Porter County in northwestern Indiana...

* Until 930 PM CDT.

* At 533 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
rainfall rates of up to 2 to 3 inches per hour over the warned
area. Rainfall amounts up to 3 inches or more are possible within
portions of the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
other poor drainage areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Chesterton, Hebron, Lakes of
the Four Seasons, South Haven, Porter, Winfield, Burns Harbor,
Ogden Dunes, Town of Pines, Beverly Shores, Wheeler, Dune Acres,
Malden and Boone Grove.

A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life
and property.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
