Description
In the event of a POWER OUTAGE during the next few days of extreme heat, the Township will open a Cooling Station at the Middle Paxton Township Municipal Building to provide a safe, air-conditioned place for residents to cool down.
đź’§ Water and light snacks will be available while supplies last.
If demand exceeds capacity or additional need arises, a second cooling location will be opened and announced to the public.
Please note:
• The Cooling Station is not an overnight shelter.
• It will be open for limited hours during periods of extreme weather.
• Visitors are expected to return home when the Cooling Station closes.
🤝 Volunteers Needed:
The Township is seeking volunteers to assist with staffing and supporting operations at the Cooling Station during activation. Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to contact the Township Manager, Julie Seeds, for more information at 717-943-5131 or Mike McKenna, the Emergency Management Coordinator at 223-363-0059.
Please check on your family, friends, and neighbors—especially older adults, young children, and anyone with health conditions—and encourage anyone who needs relief from the heat to take advantage of this resource.
