CRAFTON, PA — Crafton Borough and the Carlynton School District have begun a joint visioning project to explore the future of the property at the corner of Steuben Street and Linden Avenue, a 5.25 acres site that primarily consists of a baseball field and a mini-golf course. The initiative will engage residents and stakeholders in a community-driven process to consider new possibilities for the site while weighing market realities and design considerations that enhance community character.
The project comes as both the Borough and School District continue to navigate long-term fiscal pressures, prompting a closer look at how the site might generate public benefit, support community needs, and ease future tax burdens. Rather than rushing to a decision, officials say the visioning process is designed to surface tradeoffs and possibilities through direct public input before any conclusions are reached.
"No decisions have been made about future use of this property," said John Oliverio, President of Crafton Borough Council. "This process exists to help our community understand the opportunities and constraints together."
The project will unfold in five phases through the end of the year, beginning with research into the site's history and existing conditions this July, followed by community listening sessions in August and September, concept development through November, and a final vision plan in December. Each phase will include opportunities for public engagement, and residents are encouraged to share their priorities and ideas throughout the process.
