Description
Our trash hauler has reported an increase in contamination in recent yard waste collections. The photos below show yard waste bags containing household trash, plastic bags, cardboard, and other non-yard waste materials.
Yard waste bags should contain ONLY yard waste, including:
Grass clippings
Leaves
Small branches and twigs
Garden plants
Do NOT place the following in your yard waste bags:
Household trash
Food waste
Plastic bags or packaging
Cardboard
Bottles, cans, or recyclables
Pet waste
Any other non-yard waste materials
Please note: Kraft paper yard waste bags should not be placed inside plastic bags. The paper bags are designed to be set at the curb as they are. Placing them inside plastic bags contaminates the yard waste and prevents it from being properly composted.
Contaminated yard waste loads can be rejected and can delay collection. This could also impact disposal costs for the entire community.
