Extreme Heat Watch issued June 28 at 1:28PM EDT until July 2 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values exceeding
105.
* WHERE...All of southeast Michigan.
* WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat and humidity build into the region on
Monday with heat index values approaching or touching 100 degrees
for a short period. The hottest conditions are expected to be
Tuesday through at least Thursday. This multi-day stretch will see
high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and possibly 100 degrees
across the Detroit metro urban areas. Dewpoints into the low to
mid 70s bring heat index values to around 105 degrees or greater
each day. Little relief overnight with low temperatures each night
in the low to mid 70s.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

cooling center availability.
