Description
On May 29th, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Rick Siger announced that over $600,000 has been awarded in grants to support projects in 14 counties. This funding has been awarded through the Municipal Assistance Program (MAP), which provides funding to assist local governments to plan for and implement policies, programs, and projects as well as to manage development.
As part of the 2025-2026 project awards, Langhorne Borough was awarded $20,000 in MAP funding for the overhaul of the Borough’s 1995 Zoning Ordinance. This overhaul includes the separation of the Borough’s Historic District Ordinance from the Zoning Ordinance into a standalone piece of legislation, inclusion of alternative energy and wireless facilities, and updates to graphs, figures, and maps based on community and stakeholder input.
The Zoning Ordinance overhaul, which the Borough will undertake with assistance from the Bucks County Planning Commission (BCPC), will occur over at least an 18-month period, during which the Borough and the BCPC will discuss goals for the project and issues facing the Borough; develop drafts of each Zoning Ordinance article, the zoning map, and the revised Historic District Ordinance; and present revised ordinances to the Borough’s Planning Commission before beginning the adoption process. The Borough and BCPC will solicit input from stakeholders and members of the public and facilitate discussions at scheduled public meetings.
