Description
It has been brought to the attention that the growing concerns regarding the use of e-bikes within the community are not being taken seriously. So we would like to refresh or remind all of our residents about safety.
🚴♂️E-Bike Safety Reminder: Riders should wear a properly fitted helmet, obey all traffic laws, ride with the flow of traffic, use lights when visibility is limited, avoid distracted riding, and ensure batteries and chargers are manufacturer-approved and properly maintained. Parents are encouraged to supervise riders and ensure they understand the rules of the road before operating an e-bike on public streets.
A large U.S. study found:
An estimated 45,586 e-bike injury emergency room visits occurred nationally from 2017–2022.
E-bike injuries increased approximately 30-fold during that period.
About 5,462 hospitalizations were associated with those injuries.
Riders without helmets had nearly twice the odds of suffering a head injury compared with helmeted riders.
