Description
New Freedom Borough Public Works, in coordination with the Borough’s water engineering consultant, will be conducting hydrant flushing and testing throughout the water distribution system during the week of June 1–5.
This work is being performed to collect important information related to fire flow capabilities, water quality, and water system flow and demand characteristics. As a result of hydrants being opened and tested, residents may experience temporary water discoloration.
If you notice discolored water, please run cold water from your faucets until the water clears. If the discoloration persists, contact the Borough Office for assistance.
The tentative schedule for hydrant flushing and testing is as follows:
Monday, June 1 – Beginning at 9:30 AM and continuing throughout the day
Tuesday, June 2 – Beginning at 9:30 AM and continuing throughout the day
Thursday, June 4 – Beginning at 9:30 AM and continuing throughout the day
No hydrant flushing or testing will occur on Wednesday, June 3.
To help keep residents informed, a reminder notification will be distributed each day through Savvy Citizen when hydrant flushing and testing is scheduled to occur.
We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we complete this important work to maintain and improve the Borough’s water system.
