Description
Reminder: Deadline to submit comments on the New York State Department of Environmental Conservations Visitor Use Management proposal for Kaaterskill Clove and surrounding areas is June 1, 2026.

While this plan is being presented as a way to address safety and environmental concerns, it includes potential measures such as reservation systems and visitor limits on access to Kaaterskill Falls and the Clove. The Village of Tannersville strongly encourages residents, business owners, and visitors to submit comments opposing restrictive access measures and supporting practical solutions.

Please email ForestPreserve@dec.ny.gov and voice your disapproval of the DEC choosing to potentially block us, local residents and business owners, for visiting our own waterfalls in our own backyard. You can copy & paste this message: "I, a local resident &/or business owner, am vehemently AGAINST the Visitor Use Management (VUM) plan to limit how many people can enjoy Kaaterskill falls and it's trails daily. We, The People, elect our government to represent our needs. And locking the door to nature is NOT what we want"
