Description
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources wants to hear what you think about changing Big Pond Road in Michaux State Forest. The idea is to switch it from a public road to a trail for walking, biking, and other non-motorized uses. It would still allow emergency vehicles when needed.

Big Pond Road is now a public-use dirt and gravel road open to motor vehicles year-round. But it takes a lot of time and money to maintain. The proposed changes would make it easier for visitors to enjoy the forest, protect our natural resources, and help the Bureau of Forestry use its staff and funding more effectively.

The plan would change a 1.9-mile stretch of Big Pond Road into a non-motorized trail and a 1.4-mile section open only during certain seasons.
