Description
Good afternoon Inglis!

We are getting a lot closer to completing the maintenance/rebuilding work at the Water Plant. We had issues with the green sand filter system and had to replace the sand. This has to be done about every ten yrs or so, when the filtration ability falls below a certain level. We contacted the manufacturer of the system and they calculated how much sand was needed for our system- we ordered it from them (in Germany) and they shipped it.

When it arrived, we installed it and couldn't get the filtration system to operate where we needed it to be. After much talking with the "experts" in Germany, they admitted they miscalculated the amount of Green Sand needed by approximately 50% under. Due to the hard work of nights and weekends, our Director of Public works, Bob Spiegl has had the balance of the correct amount of sand delivered today and we will begin installing it today.

Should be complete by tomorrow and we will begin flushing. Hope to have the work done by this weekend.

Thank you for your patience and thank you Bob Spiegl and his crew for your persistence and thank you to Yankeetown for helping us out.

~Commissioner Harry Brodhead
