Description
The Town of Porter will be starting our 2026 road paving project in early May. The roads being repaved are 23rd Street from Wood Street south to Washington Street, Oak Street from Arbre Croche Court to Dunes View Avenue and Dunes View Avenue from Oak Street to US Highway 12. 23rd Street is a joint project with the Town of Chesterton. Milestone Contractors LP is the paving contractor. The proposed work schedule is as follows, weather dependent as always:
May 5 - Concrete sidewalk preparation (new sidewalk at 23rd & Marquette)
May 6 - Concrete sidewalk installation
May 6 - Remove and replace culvert on Oak (by Gatlin Plumbing)
May 11-12 - Milling and binder pavement on 23rd
May 13 - Milling Dunes View and Oak
May 13 - Surface paving on 23rd
May 14 - Binder and surface pavement on Dunes View and Oak
Striping and restoration work will be done when the construction is completed. 23rd Street will have single lane closures with flaggers for the three days of milling and paving. Please use caution in construction zones and thank you for your patience while we continue to improve our streets and sidewalks.
