🔥 Thinking about a backyard fire this season? Here's what you need to know first!
As the weather warms up, we're seeing more residents enjoying recreational fires in their yards — and we love that! However, burning in Crafton requires a permit, and there are important rules to follow to keep everyone safe.
📋 PERMIT REQUIRED
You must obtain a burn permit before burning recreationally in Crafton. Permits are applied for online and are valid for one year from the date of issue. Burning without a permit can result in a citation.
Because our homes sit so close together, open fires can quickly become a safety hazard or a nuisance to neighbors — so we ask that everyone follow the rules below.
✅ KEY RULES FOR PERMIT HOLDERS:
🏠 Fires must be at least 10 feet from any building or property line
🔞 Only adults 18 and older may tend a fire
📏 The fire cannot be wider than 3 feet
✨ All burning equipment must have a spark arrestor
🪵 Only clean-burning wood may be used — no yard debris, magazines, cardboard, plastic, garbage, construction materials, bedding, or similar materials
🌬️ No burning is permitted on Air Action Days
🚒 Even with a permit, if smoke or ash becomes a nuisance to neighbors, fire, police, or code enforcement may require you to extinguish your fire

We want you to enjoy those warm evenings safely and responsibly. Stay within the guidelines — and enjoy the fire! 🌟
