On 4/9/2026 there was a disruption in positive pressure in the water line feeding the Vernon Township Water Authorities Water Tower. The disruption was a result of construction on the PennDOT Dunham Road Bridge Replacement project. Construction plans called for the line feeding the Tower located under the bridge deck to a temporary line on the bridge deck. During this transition a valve failed resulting in the loss of pressure. This loss of pressure has resulted in a boil water advisory for all Authority Customers serviced by the Water Tower. Customers located in the South Park Avenue Plaza and along South Moisertown Road and Woodlands Drive DO NOT NEED TO BOIL THEIR WATER AS PRESSURE TO THAT PART OF THE SYSTEM WAS NOT AFFECTED.

All other customers should boil water used for:
• Drinking
• Cooking
• Brushing teeth
• Making ice
Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute, then allow it to cool before use.

Contractors onsite are working to make repairs. Following the restoration of pressure the Authority will need to have two consecutive negative tests 24 hours apart before the advisory can be lifted. The Vernon Township Water Authority will inform customers when all corrective actions have been completed, and the boil water advisory lifted. Information will be issued via auto dialer, the Vernon Township Facebook Page, the Vernon Township Savvy Citizens App, and press releases. For more information contact the Vernon Township Water at 814-332-0803.
