Description
CRIME WATCH ALERT MARCH 30, 2026:

***LOCK YOUR VEHICLE ALL OF THE TIME***
***DO NOT LEAVE THE IGNITION KEY IN YOUR VEHICLE***

The Crafton Police Department took several reports of vehicles that were entered overnight. There was a commonality amongst all of these vehicles. They were all left unlocked. There were reports of 3 unlocked vehicles on S. Grandview Ave. that were entered overnight. Money, gift cards, and a cell phone were stolen from one vehicle. Loose change was stolen from another vehicle, and a third vehicle was rummaged through. 2 unlocked vehicles on N. Grandview Ave. were rummaged through and a rear door to a residence was found open. It is unknown if the open door and the vehicle being rummaged through are related or not. 1 unlocked vehicle on Hardy St. was entered and rummaged through. An unlocked vehicle with the keys in it was stolen from N. Grandview Ave. overnight as well.

One resident’s security camera captured a suspect that was described as a taller white male wearing a gray hoodie. This male also appeared to walk with a limp. The police department is awaiting a copy of this video. Any resident who may have security/surveillance footage is asked to contact the police department. These incidents all took place overnight Sunday 3-29-2026 through Monday 3-30-2026.

Do not leave yourself vulnerable to thieves by leaving your vehicle unlocked. The easiest and best deterrent to stop these types of incidents is to lock your vehicle, all of the time, everywhere. It is quite simple to do and will likely deter most thieves as they are looking for the easy targets. Although it happens sometimes, thieves are not typically smashing windows out to steal items out of a car or to steal the car itself. That makes too much noise. They are looking for the easiest, most convenient, and quiet targets. Secondly, never leave the ignition or spare ley in your vehicle. Lastly, do not leave items of value in your vehicle, especially in plain view.

Kia and Hyundai owners are reminded to take extra measures to secure their vehicles.

***LOCK YOUR VEHICLE ALL OF THE TIME***
