Description
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of an active and recurring phone scam where fraudsters impersonate deputies or staff to steal money and personal information. Scammers often claim the target has a warrant, missed jury duty, or failed to appear in court, threatening arrest if immediate payment is not made.

Key Details of the Scam
Spoofed Numbers: Scammers use technology to make their incoming call appear as if it is coming from the official Delaware County Sheriff’s Office phone number.
Pressure Tactics: Callers claim you have an active arrest warrant or have missed jury duty.
Method of Payment: Scammers demand payment to avoid arrest, often requesting prepaid money cards, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.
Fake Information: They may use the names of real deputies or employees to sound legitimate.

What the Sheriff’s Office Will NEVER Do
NEVER call you to demand payment over the phone to avoid arrest.
NEVER request bank account, social security, or personal information via phone.
NEVER accept payment for bail or fines via gift cards, prepaid cards, or cryptocurrency.

What to Do If You Receive a Scam Call
Hang Up Immediately: Do not engage with the caller.
Do Not Pay: Do not buy gift cards or provide any financial information.
Verify Independently: If you are concerned, call the Delaware County Sheriff's Office directly at 610-891-4296 to verify any claims.
Report It: Contact the Sheriff's Office to report the attempt.
