Flash Flood Warning issued March 13 at 8:35PM HST until March 13 at 11:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

At 835 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the island of Maui.
Rain was falling at a rate of around 2 inches per hour. The heaviest
rain is falling over the south-facing slopes of West Maui and Mount
Haleakala from Kaanapali to Kihei to Makena to Kipahulu. Emergency
Management also reported flooding in Kihei with South Kihei Road
closed between North Kihei and Uwapo Road.

HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in drainages,
streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low lying
areas. Multiple public road closures expected, as well
as landslides in steep terrain.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao, Keokea,
Haliimaile, Paia, Puunene, Haiku-Pauwela, Wailea, Pauwela,
Maalaea, Huelo, Ulupalakua, Makena, Waikapu, Wailuku and Waiehu.

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
