Description
Flash Flood Warning issued March 13 at 6:50PM HST until March 13 at 8:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI
At 650 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the island of Maui.
Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. The heaviest
rain is falling over the south-facing slopes of West Maui and Mount
Haleakala from Olowalu to Kihei to Makena to Kipahulu. Flash
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible
in steep terrain.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao, Keokea,
Haliimaile, Paia, Puunene, Haiku-Pauwela, Wailea, Pauwela,
Maalaea, Huelo, Ulupalakua, Makena, Waikapu, Wailuku and Waiehu.
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
