Freeze Watch issued February 23 at 12:57AM EST until February 24 at 8:00AM EST by NWS Tallahassee FL

* WHAT...For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low
as 18 expected. For the Freeze Watch, a hard freeze with
sub-freezing temperatures as low as 24 possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Alabama, Big Bend and Panhandle
Florida, and south central and southwest Georgia.

* WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 5 AM EST /4 AM CST/ to
9 AM EST /8 AM CST/ this morning. For the Freeze Watch, from late
tonight through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged
exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes
they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those
that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover
above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
