🚨 SNOW REMOVAL UPDATE – WHAT TO EXPECT IN RED LION BOROUGH ❄️
Here’s how our Public Works team keeps roads safe during winter storms 👇
🧊 Pretreatment
Once snow starts falling, crews apply an antiskid & salt mix to keep snow/ice from bonding to roads.
⏱ Time: 2–3 hours
🚜 Snow Plowing
Plowing begins after 3–4 inches of snow.
Crews need about 8 hours to open all Borough streets.
🧂 Aftertreatment
Once plowing is complete, another round of antiskid & salt is applied.
⏱ Time: 2–3 hours
➡️ Where Does the Snow Go?
Plows push snow to the right, toward the curb. It builds up: • under parked cars
• between cars
• in open curb areas
Works well up to about 6 inches of snow.
But when totals hit 8+ inches, space runs out and snow can: • push behind the plow
• pack under tires
• create hardto-remove snowpack
🚗 The Biggest Obstacle? Parked Cars.
They stop plows from clearing to the curb—which is essential for:

🔥 Fire hydrant access
