Description
In response to a Facebook post where a concern for high nitrate levels was detected because of a home test from one of our residents, the Borough issues the following response. The Borough is required to test for Nitrates per the Department of Environmental Protection in our regular battery of test. All tests are sent to a certified lab which in turns notifies DEP of the certified results. If there is an issue with any of the test’s DEP would notify the Borough of such results and provide us with additional instructions of what would be required to rectify the issue. The borough reviewed all the Nitrate testing for the last year and confirmed with DEP that none of the test exceeded the limits set forth by DEP. The Borough has reached out to the resident who raised the concern and once contact is made, we will test the water in the house and send it to our certified testing agency (Suburban Testing Labs). It is the Boroughs position that the Nitrate levels in the Boroughs water system are well below the limits set forth by DEP and is safe to consume. I have included all testing results from Suburban Testing Labs and DEP for your information. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Borough Office at 717 359-5101
