Extreme Cold Warning issued February 7 at 1:37PM EST until February 8 at 1:00PM EST by NWS Binghamton NY
* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 to 30 below.
* WHERE...Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming Counties.
* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 to 20
minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest wind chills are expected over the
exposed, higher elevations this afternoon into Sunday morning.
Northwest winds will be gusting between 35 to 45 mph at times
today. Isolated power outages are possible.
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside or travel.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
