Code Blue extended through Tuesday, Feb. 3
The Lackawanna County Emergency Management Agency and the City of Scranton have extended Code Blue Frigid Weather Alerts every night this week:
ALREADY DECLARED:
8 p.m. on THURSDAY, Jan. 29, until 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 (Wind chill -21 degrees)
8 p.m. on FRIDAY, Jan. 30, until 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 (Wind chill -8 degrees)
8 p.m. on SATURDAY, Jan. 31, until 7 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1 (Wind chill -7 degrees)
8 p.m. on SUNDAY, Feb. 1, until 7 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2 (Wind chill 5 degrees)
NEW DECLARATIONS:
8 p.m. on MONDAY, Feb. 2, until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3 (Wind chill 5 degrees)
8 p.m. on TUESDAY, Feb. 3, until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 (Wind chill 9 degrees)
Code Blue is a weather alert issued during extreme cold (temperatures expected to drop below 20 degrees), triggering a plan to help vulnerable populations, especially the homeless. Emergency shelter can be found at the following locations:
St. Anthony's Haven, 409 Olive St., Scranton, open 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Weston Field House, 982 Providence Road, Scranton, open at 7:30 p.m.
Community Intervention Center (CIC), 445 North 6th Ave., Scranton, open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (open later if need requires).
