Crafton Residents and Business Owners:
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our Public Works crew for their truly Herculean effort over the past three days. Facing more than 12 inches of snow and frigid temperatures, our team of 7 workers operated 5 trucks and logged more than 135 hours on Sunday alone. From Sunday through Tuesday, each crew member has averaged over 50 hours of work to keep our streets safe and passable. Their dedication to our community during these extreme conditions has been nothing short of extraordinary.
As we move forward, please be aware that this significant snowfall will continue to impact our borough over the next two weeks as temperatures remain well below freezing. Our crews will continue working to maintain clear and safe streets, but with this amount of snow, some inconveniences are unavoidable. Cars parked on streets and driveways will be periodically blocked by snowplows as our team works to keep roads accessible. We understand this is frustrating, but with snowfall of this magnitude, there is simply no way to avoid these situations while ensuring the safety of our roadways.
Our Public Works crew is currently working on clearing the public steps throughout Crafton and areas where school children walk to school to ensure safe passage for students and residents.
For those who are unable to shovel or plow themselves, we're heartened to see dozens of private contractors and neighbors offering assistance on Facebook and other social media outlets. Please reach out to these community members if you need help clearing your property.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all navigate this weather event together.
